NComm Delivers Turnkey VoIP
SALEM, NH – January 11, 2005 – NComm, Inc., a technology leader in turnkey WAN software and source code, today announced the immediate availability of TMS-VoIP, its Trunk Management Software (TMS) for voice over IP (VoIP) applications. Antek, a developer of VoIP gateways, has elected to incorporate NComm’s TMS-VoIP and Maxim-Dallas hardware as the integrated physical layer WAN interface for its VoIP products.
NComm’s TMS-VoIP includes turnkey software and source code that allows VoIP equipment vendors to incorporate robust, standards-compliant T1/E1, T3/E3, SONET/SDH and SONET APS physical layer interfaces to their products. The software package includes pre-tested framer, alarming, performance monitoring, line testing, packet transmission and signaling functions critical for carrier-ready VoIP WAN communications.
Antek leveraged NComm’s TMS-VoIP integrated with Maxim-Dallas’ T1/E1/ISDNPRI/ J1 Single-Chip Transceiver (LIU, framer, HDLC controller, and TDM backplane interface) to speed the delivery of its products to market. “To deliver robust solutions, not only does the VoIP application have to be executed correctly, but so do other components of an integrated offering, particularly the physical layer connectivity,” said Mark Huang of Antek. “By using NComm, we were able to provide seamless physical connectivity quickly while avoiding risky and complex development.”
Physical layer access technology forms the foundation on which the public network is built. VoIP equipment developers have the same set-up, monitoring, problem isolation and problem resolution issues as traditional WAN equipment – but with added complications of dealing with a wide-area network that may now transverse multiple carriers and technologies i.e. T1's within T3 within SONET then to Ethernet. NComm TMS-VoIP provides a reliable, pre-tested Layer 1 WAN interface solution that eliminated that complexity and speeds time-to-market.
“VoIP expertise isn't WAN expertise. VoIP gateway manufacturers generally have stronger data experience than wide-area voice expertise, and they want to continue to focus on their core competencies, not necessarily undertake complex development with unfamiliar technology. NComm TMS-VoIP removes the uncertainty and delivers robust, standards-based solutions while significantly reducing the time, cost and risk associated with developing these interfaces in-house,” said John Brandte, vice president of marketing and business development at NComm.
NComm’s TMS-VoIP offerings enable packet transmission over traditional WAN protocols like T1 or E1. It also enables fast completion of VoIP gateway product interfacing with both Channel Associated and D-Channel Signaling.
Pricing and Availability
The standards-compliant TMS package for VoIP is available immediately. Pricing for an NComm TMS license starts at US $20,000.
