VoIP might be telecoms' link to revival
Quest and Level 3 are seriously in debt from building up their massive fiber-optic networks (Level 3 alone sits on $5 billion in debt). Now they hope to leverage those networks to ride the VoIP wave out of the red.
Quest is selling VoIP to individual customers and both companies are selling bandwidth wholesale to VoIP providers.
Today VoIP is taking the industry by storm, and those who aren't able to take advantage of the technology will be at a disadvantage. Said Jaegers: "This is the technology of the future.
