Vonage Signs Deals with CompUSA, Viseon & Staples
Vonage unveiled another big retail distribution deal last month, inking a pact with CompUSA. Under the deal, Vonage will pitch its service in all of CompUSA's 200-plus U.S. stores, as well as on the chain's Web site. High-speed Internet subscribers with standard telephones can sign up for Vonage's broadband phone service by buying one of the two starter kits available at CompUSA outlets. Both starter kits feature Linksys devices, which offer a $50 mail-in rebate 90 days after the service has been activated.Earlier in Dec., Vonage unveiled a pact with Viseon to develop a broadband videophone service together. The two companies said they will target the new service to both consumers and small businesses. Vonage said the development deal will allow it to provide video and 'a set of features never before available to consumers.'
Vonage also notched a deal with Staples Business Depot/Bureau En Gros in Canada. Under this pact, the office-product chain will offer Vonage's VoIP service at more than 230 stores across Canada and online.
